Welcome to Launceston Toastmasters Club. (updated 7th Nov 2011)
Good communication skills can change your life and those around you.
How well you verbalise your thoughts and ideas determines the impression you make on people and, ultimately, your personal success.
For men and women, Toastmasters will help teach you to organise and present your ideas logically and convincingly in bite size chunks over time. We develop self confidence that will enable you to handle just about any speaking situation with ease.
In brief, the meeting is structured to work on:
Impromptu speaking (Table Topics) &
Prepared speech projects
The roles and projects are evaluated for the commendations and recommendations in an encouraging manner.
Our Launceston TM Club is a relatively small, yet enthusiastic and friendly club. We strive to look after our member's communication and leadership needs. We are always developing, as there are always new members coming through the doors.

The reward for the Toastmasters leader is to be able to say:
"We saw someone grow today, and we helped."
Toastmasters International is a communication and leadership development organisation with exciting and valuable differences.
Our Mission is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment where each person can develop their leadership and communication skills, fostering self confidence and personal growth.
· Are you looking to become a more confident speaker and leader?
· Do you want to improve your presentations at work, to clients or at University?
· Or want to be more confident in facilitating meetings?
Our Launceston Toastmasters Club offers a friendly and supportive mentoring environment in which to learn and develop these skills and more. Our aim is to see all our members exceed their expectations in:
Business and technical presentations,
After dinner speeches,
Presenting and receiving awards,
Chairing business meetings,
Speaking off the cuff,
Or just saying a few words to a group of friends on that special occasion.
All these and more are covered in our extensive educational curriculum that has already helped many millions of people around the world exceed their expectations over more than 80 years.
We know that speech and leadership qualities are behavioural; hence one of the strengths of the Toastmasters programme is that we work on these skills over time. Our mentoring programme provides feedback as you adopt superior skills for future presentations allowing you to iron out habits that you may not know you have. We have an extensive educational programme, and you work at your own pace.
If you are at the stage where you want to expand beyond buying self help books, CD s, DVDs or attending conferences, then consider visiting and joining Launceston Toastmasters club for our peer evaluations.
Toastmasters will give you the skills and confidence you need to effectively express yourself in any situation.Whether you are a professional, student, stay-at-home parent or retiree, Toastmasters is the most efficient, enjoyable and affordable way of gaining great communication skills.
Lyn as Elvis
By learning to effectively formulate and express your ideas, you open an entirely new world of possibilities. Youll be more persuasive and confident when giving group presentations, and youll also improve your one-on-one dealings with others.
This club is made up of members who have a committed to serve each other. When you think about it, it is only fair.
We strive to get the most out of each meeting. We get to meetings as often as we can. We prepare our speech assignments as best we can. We deliver our assignments for the other members to listen and evaluate. The programme works because other members commit to doing the same in return; we help each other to exceed our expectations.
Barb and Marylou: Mentoring in action!
Launceston Toastmasters Club environment is Fun, Friendly and Supportive, and the self-paced programme allows you to build confidence with each speaking assignment. We encourage mentoring of members, so that they are not left alone.
We also have a dynamic and broad spread of experiences, from District Officers, right through to members just starting out to deliver their first speech - from science/management backgrounds through to philosophers.
Constructive evaluation is the heart of the Toastmasters programme. Each time you give a prepared speech, an evaluator will point out strengths and suggest improvements.
Reinforcing the point: Most communication & leadership skills are habits. As oppose to the short courses, the club programme works on improving these speaking and leadership skills over time. Reinforcing the theory into behaviour in every assignment you take on.
Come along and exceed your expectations. Visit one of our clubs with no pressure to join, though we will provide a visitor's welcome pack. We stress the importance, that you make sure that the programme fits your goals at this point of time.
Toastmasters currently has more than 270,000 members in over 113 countries. Our club is just one of the more than 11,000 clubs located around the world; One of 5 clubs in Tasmania.
